My Essential Reads

Hellooooo! Hope you're having a lovely relaxing bank holiday weekend.

A super quick post today, I've been packing up all my belongings ready for the move and have managed to narrow my essential reads down to four books. Just wanted to give them a little mention, and ask if there's any books you guys love which I might be missing out on..

Now I know what you're thinking, but the matching colour theme was pure coincidence. I'm thrilled about it (don't judge me) but I promise it wasn't deliberate!

Leave Your Mark - Aliza Licht // Leave Your Mark is inspiration and advice for those wanting to start a career in social media, focused in fashion. Aliza writes in a friendly and personal way and this is a fantastic book for anyone thinking of this career or who has just started out. The only downside is that it isn't very intense, and therefore not ideal for someone with prior experience. I didn't feel like I learnt too much from this book, but it was still a fascinating read which gives a valuable insight into the fashion industry.

#GIRLBOSS - Sophia Amoruso // This book barely needs an introduction, but for those of you who didn't know, Sophia Amoruso is the founder of Nasty Gal, international fashion retailer loved by millions. Sophia tells her life story (but in a totally captivating way) from the very bottom when she started up an eBay shop selling vintage clothes, to running a huge team at Nasty Gal and being a total badass business icon. Her writing style is so honest and raw and has you hooked from the beginning of the book. I could read this again and again!

Not That Kind of Girl - Lena Dunham // I won't lie, NTKOG is a super self-indulgent piece of literature. However, I just so happen to adore the darling that is Lena Dunham, and everything she stands for. The book is frank, funny, and discusses topics that most would shy away from. I love Lena's transparent approach to existing. She is in the public eye, and judged for everything she does, so she simply lays it all out on the table and says 'this is me, take it or leave it'. I for one, like it.

The Little Book of Mindfulness // Firstly the actual physical form of this book is a dream! It's a little hardback with gold foil lettering. It's filled with little bits of information and advice on how to practice mindfulness in everyday life, as well as inspirational quotes. This isn't something to sit and read page by page, but something to dip into whenever you need a boost, or give yourself something to think about. My best friend bought me this book, so it's even more special to me. A lovely little mindfulness resource!

Do you have any of these books? What do you think of them?
