A Fresh Start

So firstly I want to apologise for the lack of posting on Paisley & Stripes recently. In the last 6 months I've been through a bad break-up, moved back home to my parents, met what felt like 4000 university deadlines and completed my dissertation. It's been a weird 6 months but I've grown and learnt (learned?) a LOT. Though clearly not the right use of learnt/learned.

ANYWAY onto the good stuff! I've loved Manchester for as long as I can remember, it's a beautiful city with so many diverse areas and people, not to mention the incredible fashion scene! Being from Yorkshire, I am a true Northerner and have always felt Manchester could be home to me. Since mid-April I have been networking on LinkedIn, revamping my CV, and applying for jobs. As a result of this I was offered a couple of interviews, both of which for well-known online fashion retailers. I have lots of experience working in fashion, but my academic knowledge is deeply rooted in the world of psychology and I was slightly concerned this might affect my chances as I knew I would be up against lots of fashion graduates. I kept upbeat and positive and made sure my personality came across, as interviews can often feel stifling and super formal. I got a call a few days ago from PrettyLittleThing.com to let me know I'D GOT THE JOB!!

I'm going to be their content author, and that basically just means I'm in charge of making sure all the kick ass content goes on the website in the right place, at the right time etc etc. I really can't wait to start, I'm equal amounts of nervous and super excited!

Life currently consists of frantically flat hunting online (we have around 3 weeks to view, sign and move), and I'm lucky enough to be looking to find somewhere with a girl who will also be a new starter at PLT around the same time as I will, which is an amazing lucky coincidence. I really do feel like after a difficult part of my life, things are starting to look up. Hopefully moving to Manchester will be a fresh start for me, and that's something I feel I really need.

With all of this in mind, keep your eyes peeled for my next post, which will of course be a PLT wishlist. So predictable I know!

Lots of love
