Let's Talk // Mental Health & Healthy Habits

So I've had this post sitting in my drafts for a lil' while now and was kinda waiting on some inspiration to strike me as to what imagery I could post along with it. I've also had some shots of this amaaaazing rose gold metallic holdall kindly sent to me by LAMODA. So that means you're gettin' em both in one post. I wanted to round up a few healthy habits I've been trying to pick up recently, and thought I'd share them with you. There's nothing better for me than stumbling upon a post like this when I've had a bad day and could do with some direction - so here's hoping this post reaches someone who needs it.

STOP Comparing
Okay, this one is much easier said than done. Trust me, this gal right here is more than familiar with the feelings of inadequacy that come with comparing yourself to shiny happy people on social media. The best quote I can summarise for this one comes from  #GIRLBOSS Sophia Amoruso: "Don't compare your hustle to their highlight reel" - girl's got a point.

Eat Real Food
I'm not telling you to throw your Doritos out the window and adopt a 100% clean-eating strict diet - that would be boring (plus I'm not giving up Haribo's for ANYONE). Just try cooking from scratch a little bit more. Never underestimate the power of vegetables (Honestly, I turn 22 and start telling people to eat more vegetables. I might as well be a middle aged mother of 4)

Visualise & Make A Game Plan
Imagine what you want to do, where you want to be in a month's time. What do you need to do to get there? Make a list, check your progress, feel proud. You got this, girl. If you need a buddy to keep you on your toes, say hey!

Keep A Positive Mindset
Magic happens when your mindset and energy are in alignment with your dreams and desires. Keep a positive outlook and don't allow negative thoughts to enter your headspace. Keep this up and your positivity will manifest itself in the form of amazing opportunities presenting themselves to you.

Support Others
It means the world as a creative to receive feedback and support when you put yourself out there. I love getting Instagram or blog comments - it makes my day. I don't care if you're a stranger and if I don't know you, the fact you took the time to comment means the world. I always try and do this for other people. If I love something you made, I'm going to tell you. If you look cute, I'm going to tell you. If you're a lil' shining star making a difference in this world (even if you don't realise it), you can be sure I'm going to tell you. I've built up loads of those relationships online (especially on Instagram) where you don't actually know eachother IRL but you're there to encourage and cheer eachother on from the sidelines. Spread this kind of positivity and support, and you will receive it back in abundance.

With the above point in mind, I want to tell you guys about a couple of collectives that I am super proud to be an active member of..

Crazy Creative Cool
Founded by badass boss babe Suzan (creative director of LAMODA - as if she couldn't get any cooler), CCC is a collective for babes in the creative industry who struggle(d) with mental health. It's still in its relatively early stages, but is already a welcoming, safe and supportive space for creatives. I can't wait to see CCC grow and I'm currently in the process of writing a lil' something about my battle with anxiety, so please keep an eye out for that.

Mental Movement
#MentalMovement zine is a mental health initiative started by Steph & Emma, with the main focus of shining a light on the topic of mental health. These gals get it, talking about these things is SO important in the process of healing. I recently took part in #ProjectPostcard and would encourage others to do the same. I'm hoping my postcard has made it to India, it's lovely to think I could be making a stranger in a country I've never even been to, smile.

Sorry this post turned out super long. In fact, I'm not sorry. We need to TALK about these things, and I'm going to be doing a lot more of it on Paisley & Stripes. If anyone is down for a mental health collab, you know where to find me (on my sofa in my Hello Kitty dressing gown watching Project Runway from 2007).

Until next time XOXO

Wishlist // Homeware

I was super inspired by a recent trip to the new (and p impressive!) Oliver Bonas store in Manchester. Never before has a shop given me such a strong urge to venture into my overdraft. I behaved though, and came out with a head full of inspiration and colour palettes. I'm a firm believer in having a lovely home, because it's your sanctuary. The one place you're supposed to feel safe and calm no matter what's happening in the big, bad world outside. SO with that in mind, I've been scouring the web and created the below wishlist. I call it a wishlist because ya gal can't afford to fritter £75 on a throw, even if it does have pom poms on it.

My two fave colours of all time are pink and sage green (although I'm sure that's abundantly obvious by now) so the pieces above really caught my eye. That 2-seater is clearly only for aesthetic purposes, if I ever owned anything like that, nobody would be sitting on it. Not even you, Mum. I bloody love the LA print, it looks like something I'd find on my Pinterest board, except you'd find it in a frame in my living room. FYI, my next home project is a huge grid wall on which I can create a real life tangible Pinterest board. Just think of the Instagram opportunities.

Yes okay, I think it's becoming obvious by now I have a thing for statement couches which look AMAZING but hella uncomfy. I also have a thing for mis-matched drawers. Oh, and cacti. Okay, I'll stop now. I think you get the gist of it.

So there we have it, my current wishlist of homeware that I'm going totally heart-eyed over RN. I'm on the lookout for cheaper homeware brands, so if you know any lil' gems pleeeease let me know. I'm trying to achieve an Oliver Bonas flat on a George @ Asda budget. No disrespect to Asda though, they've got some ace stuff in at the mo, including this cactus vase that no doubt you're sick to death of  seeing by now. ANYWAY, expect to see more posts like this because I'm really getting into my homeware at the mo. Until next time!

XOXO

When You Know, You Know.

As a girl who hates rom coms, and has never seen (and doesn't plan to see) The Notebook, this post might seem a little unexpected. I'm not really one for gushing and going all soppy over anything let alone anyone. However, I was reading Chloe's blog recently and stumbled across this lovely post about why we should be unashamed to talk about love. It got me super inspired to write a lil somethin' about the human that's been brightening my days. There's a lot to thank you for, and the list below is by no means exhaustive.

For bringing me toast in the bath when I'm poorly.
For the time we were cleaning up our apartment after the fire and you put on a Spotify playlist, in which each song had the word fire somewhere in it and slowly waited for me to work out that's what was happening (it took me AGES). Talk about making the best of a bad situation.
For signing for all my ASOS parcels. And there's been a LOT.
For being endlessly supportive of my creative endeavours, even if that means you giving up hours of time to help me shoot content.
For not minding too much every time I buy something pink for the flat.
For being my best friend and the easiest person in the world to get along with.
For pretending to like Gilmore Girls when I got addicted and wanted to watch it every night. And for getting addicted yourself - my fault.
And on the subject of Gilmore Girls, for tolerating me every single time I decided it would be appropriate to sing the theme tune (badly) at the top of my lungs.
For remembering to water all our plants, because I never do.
For not minding when you were trying to quietly appreciate the art at the gallery, whilst I was making up memes for every damn painting I saw.
For making the best scrambled eggs in MCR.

Happy Valentine's Day, ya massive cutie. I love you.

* I did wanna put a cute pic of us here but it turns out we are both basic AF and our only pictures together have the dog filter on them. Let's work on that.
